The Property:
Situated in the heart of Woodstock, The Marlborough Arms is a beautiful 15th Century coaching inn that overlooks the town’s historical streets. The Marlborough Arms has a history that is closely interwoven with the history of England, from the Norman invasion in 1066 through to the famous war time leader Winston Churchill.
The Brief:
Water pressure and flow from the showers and outlets was poor in all rooms. The galvenised and lead pipework within the hotel was old and in need of complete replacement. Due to its position in the open courtyard, the cold water mains connection for the hotel also needed relocating.
The Solution:
The first task was to redirect the existing cold water mains pipework from the inspection chamber in the court yard into the cellar. Because the cellar was directly underneath a lettable room we had to have a silent solution. Accumulators and a whisper quiet Boostamain pump were employed to increase flow and pressure for the hotel guests.
New hot water cylinders, cold water storage tanks and associated pipework were also fitted. The new system was then connected to the existing Buderus gas boiler. The existing controls for heating and hot water were replaced, allowing better control and reliability, and making the system more efficient.
